I've had another "third times a charm" experience. Not too unlike the previous Beautiful Girls post where I explained that I've always liked them, just never fell in love. That is until I heard their third album.
Rilo Kiley's Under the Black Light was that beautiful "third time." (And yes, I am aware that this is technically Rilo Kiley's fourth album, but it was the third that I've heard, so give me a break rabid Rilo Kiley fans. Why are you even reading this? You already know you like 'em.)
Rilo Kiley definitely takes a more poppy approach, often bordering on electronic, in this album and it works. Wow does it ever work.
I've tried to include a prime example of this new Rilo Kiley style, but really do yourself a favor and find a way to take this whole album in. In the meantime enjoy this dance hall anthem sung in the same vein as I Will Survive.
