Still working on a solution to that server problem. This post should work fine in the meantime. Thanks for staying with us...
Here's a song that's been tickling me since I first heard it a few weeks ago. It's called "Sold! To The Nice Rich Man" by The Welcome Wagon from their debut, Welcome to the Welcome Wagon (clever), out on Sufjan Steven's Asthmatic Kitty Records.
There's no denying the influence of Mr. Stevens on this little ditty - it's got all his brand of bells, whistles, horns, strings, and kitchen sinks. On the Asthmatic Kitty website, The Welcome Wagon's debut is described as "a ramshackle sing-a-long enterprise of a Presbyterian pastor (the Rev. Vito Aiuto) and his wife (Monique) wrestling out the influences of folk music, religion, popular culture, and church tradition in a collection of songs that is as soulful as it is good-humored". I haven't heard the rest of the release yet, but after falling for "Rich Man", it's high on my to-do list for the New Year.
