Almost a year and a half after it was released, Dog Problems is still amazing me. The Format's second album is a masterpiece, it resides with Sgt. Peppers as what I believe to be one of the most finely crafted albums to date. Its perfect. But even while the light of Dog Problems shines brightly, undimmed by time, The Format have broken up.
I don't want to believe it. They have left when they were on the top of their game, they've left me wanting more. Why couldn't they be like so many bands and slowly slip into mediocrity and leave me the sure knowledge that they've given me their best? Deep down I know its better this way, leave when you're on top. Nate Ruess has already begun work on a solo album, we find comfort in this news, but only time will tell if this can heal the pain that we feel now.
However, this is not a time to grieve but a time to celebrate the wonder and beauty they brought to this world.

I don't know who the format is, but I'm sorry.
i hadn't heard, and am glad to be wearing some black when i read the breakup news.
chris - i would make a small change to the titlegraphic. the cubicle lines to the right of the whale are confusing since they are just diagonally sheared. does it look better if you made them stop in a stepped way?
dearest bbond,
i agree. we already have a new and improved cubicle whale header, but since we had so much trouble getting the one we had to work, we haven't quite geared ourselves up to figure out how to do it again.
but once the laziness subsides- oh man, you'd best look out...
they're WHAT????
thanks for ruining my day....
sad i never got to see them in concert. i was just listening to dog problems this morning on my run. i am obsessed with every song. i have a feeling i am going to love checking this blog on a regular basis. miss you chris.
